Fundie baby cult

Just when I thought fundamentalizm had swung as far to th right as it could go, they found a way to take a step further - a fundie cult raising its children to be warriors for Jesus in a way that is way too close to how Muslim mothers raise their children to become martyrs.

But Wolfson, Moore and thousands of mothers like them call themselves and their belief system "Quiverfull." They borrow their name from Psalm 127: "Like arrows in the hands of a warrior are sons born in one's youth. Blessed is the man whose quiver is full of them. They will not be put to shame when they contend with their enemies in the gate." Quiverfull mothers think of their children as no mere movement but as an army they're building for God.

How can you tell they are fundies?

Quiverfull women are more than mothers. They're domestic warriors in the battle against what they see as forty years of destruction wrought by women's liberation: contraception, women's careers, abortion, divorce, homosexuality and child abuse, in that order.

Nuff said.

Ok, that was all way too weird for a woman who grew up in the 70's. Yeah, let's just go back to blaming women for everything - like in genesis. Sure, it works for me... not.

Wow, now that actually reads scarily similar to statements from Palestine mothers that they will bear the army to continue their fight.

Nice tie in Mojo.
